So you have finally decided to take the plunge and get into 3D printing so you can make your own firearms. While 3D printers weren’t that diverse in years past, we now have quite a few different options for every budget and need.
Before we get into the specifics, it is important to note that every single FDM desktop 3D printer on the market today is capable of printing firearms. This is because the design community intentionally tests their projects on the least expensive machines possible in order to make sure printing your own firearms is as accessible as possible. The vast majority of gun files are designed to be printed using either PLA + or PLA Pro; materials that do not need a specific machine setup. Keep in mind that you do not need the fanciest or most expensive printer to get some really awesome gun prints. Most of the upgrades in the more expensive machines are either to ensure consistency, expand your material options, or to make the overall user experience less labor intensive.
I have personally used every printer listed in the next three articles and can vouch for them based on their price point.
